How to configure Vonage extensions in multiple phones using Google Voice

Here are the major steps that you have do using your phone and Google Voice for calling Vonage Extensions

I) Signup for Google Voice if you don't have it already. Its free

II) Configure Google Voice to access through your cell phone(s) or landline

III) Configure Vonage Extensions using your Vonage Web Interface ; Use your Google Voice Number as your number for Extensions

IV) Get your Vonage Extensions phone number and add to Google Voice Contact list

V) When you wanted to make phone call, you may use Google Voice to call your Vonage Extension number; Enjoy using multiple phones

Let me go in detail on how to do this using your cell phone.
1) Open your Cell phone Contacts

2) Add a contact say “MyVonageNumber”;  (or any name)

3) Enter your Google Voice Number, followed by two Pause Character ‘PP’ and then enter your Google PIN Number and then Pause Character ‘P’
   and then Enter 2, then enter Vonage Access Number Enter the Pause Character ‘P’ and then Enter  4 digit PIN number of Vonage (Not your Google PIN)

e.g..., 555-444-9876 (Pause) (Pause) (Google Pin Number) (Pause) 2 (415) 363-0427 # (Pause) (Vonage Pin Number)


Note: In the above e.g..., 555-444-9876  is your Google Voice Number and (415) 363-0427 is your Vonage Extension Number
 
Hint: To get “Pause” on your cell phone (most of the phones), hold on to ‘ * ‘ (star) key for a moment (2 sec’s)

4) Dial out the international number you want to call

If you have Google Voice App on your IPhone or Android. This is much more easy.

The merge of gadgets


With the new generation of cellphones, its really mindbogglingly to see eye pooping features on cellphone devices. As far as functional feature goes, you can call anyone anywhere, maintain personal database of the contact including birthdays, anniversaries, company, emails etc...You could add reminder to any event or meeting. Set the time to wake you up with nice ring tone of your choice or with your favorite FM radio channel. If FM music bores, then you have your favorite songs played as mp3. Talking about storage...well the device has additional storage area where you can plug-in your 5GB memory card to your cell. If your lost your way...well the device can act as a GPS navigator. Browse through google to search for any restaurants nearby or quickly catch up with latest news on the net. Check emails on the go. This list goes on and on...

Talking about technical features you have additional storage area, bluetooth connectivity for voice and file transfer,wifi to connect to your home network. What next? ...Well, in todays world "connection" is the key. If you are not able to get connected you are obsolete. Thats why you see lot of gadgets which support wifi infrastructure. Your computer, printer, microwave, scanner, music system, cellphone, speakers...are wifi enabled.

With the release of iPhone, it now pretty obvious that you don't need many of additionally burden to carry with you such as mp3 player, laptop(checking mails or for any info search, file editor such as word) , Video player, PDA. Ten years ago you need all these in separate gadget.

There is a saying "The future is in your hands". Yes, the world of gadgets will be all merge into one device that will be of palm size.
